Melou is being very good. He has talked to his father on behalf of his brother, and is planning to do the same with his mother; he has decided that he likes his grandmother still, even if she a little frightens him; and at the moment he is applying his real-world skills of living on grass if necessary to finding some scavenged food for the Mansion

Courfeyrac, as it happens, is coming down the same path that Melou is coming up, and he pauses politely when he sees him. "Good afternoon."

Melou casts Gawain's smile upon him. "Good afternoon, sir!"

Courfeyrac is no more immune to this than the next boy, and beams back at him. "You're looking well."

"My brother hath come! And my lord says an end to the war, put it by, and my mother is well."

[topofadmiration]

"What hast thou there, my lord?"

[lesser_son]

He, as we noted above, is not wearing the tunic at this point; he holds it out to her proudly. "Fruit."

She blushes without being quite sure why, and smiles. She reaches for one. "May I--?"

"Ay, ay!"

Melehan does not like sitting still. As the mansion does not readily afford opportunity for much else, he has taken to wandering, and while it is not action enough to take him off edge and keep him from feeling tense and anxious, it is something still. And it is the reason he will run into his brother at work.

His brother will easily enough put his tunic down to leave his hands free for hugging. "Melehan!"

[rebel_son]

"Melou." --he's really just not that good at hugging.

[lesser_son]

Yeah, well. He's getting hugged ANYWAY. "I have spoken with our mother!"
