Jeff squints a few times at his phone because there’s no way he’s reading this right. Britta Perry cannot be texting him at two o’clock in the morning. On a Wednesday. To ask him if he’s awake.

He types out a response and then erases it, repeats the process a few times. Finally he settles on a question: Is Troy?

Can I come over?

Moral ambiguity used to be Jeff Winger’s middle name. But now he has friends and a heart and a conscience and (unfortunately for his dick) he has to choose his response very carefully. For what?

R u gonna answer all of my questions with a question? Can I come over or not?

He leans back into the pillow, exhales loudly, and screws his eyes shut for a minute.

THIS IS AWESOME. Sorry it's taken me so long to comment (I actually read this like a week ago when you posted it, but school and stuff is the worst). I've read some of your Jeff/Britta before and this is my favorite. Your last line -- Jeff bites the inside of his cheek so hard it bleeds -- is soooo so good. Thanks for filling!
