It started snowing here, and even though i'm not looking forward to all the people that usually go by car taking the subway tomorrow, I love it. When it's so cold that the air smells like pine trees, even though there are no pine trees around, that's my favourite kind of weather.

MisfitsI wasn't sure if I'd continue watching the new season ( Read more... )

Aw, I agree with your thoughts on Elementary. I really enjoy their dynamic, and also find them fun and humorous. But the cases really are BAD. I get the feeling that's not their priority in the writing.

I am jealous of your cold weather!

It's such a nice, refreshing dynamic, and IA that it's clear that the cases are just not their priority yet. Hopefully they'll get better over time.

I'm loving Elementary. I don't even care about the cases because the character dynamics are so satisfying. Watson and Holmes have been great from the beginning - I lovelovelove the power balance there - and even in the last episode there was some great stuff with Holmes and Gregson. Holmes' characterization over the last few episodes may just be my very favourite thing in the entire universe, and the way that people respond to him - respect his intellect, but don't abide by any assy behaviour - is perfect.

That last seen between Holmes and Gregson was freaking perfect! I'm glad that Gregson is written this smart and perceptive. All of the relationships and dynamics on this show are awesome so far.

Also, I love your icon!

Yeah, the cases have been kind of underwhelming so far, but like eswnrtm says bellow, I'm glad that they at least prioritise the character development and dynamics over them so I'm not too upset about it.

IDK, for me Holmes was never a genius in the typical sense. Yes, he is more intelligent than the average person and has a gift when it comes to memorizing, but he also seems to train his mind nonstop, and works very hard to achieve/improve the skills he already has.
I guess it was easier to impress people with logical conclusions back when science didn't deliver the same results two hours later anyway. I'm just glad that they're keeping the focus on the mind games and are refraining from using car chases and explosions to keep things interesting like those horrible Guy Ritchie movies.

1. Your icon is gorgeous! I need to get an Elementary related one asap.

2. I'm glad the the writers care more about Watson and Holmes as individual characters and their dynamic than the procedural aspect.

Perfectly said. The way they're handling their characters so far makes me very hopeful. His expression is brilliant, it's like he can't comprehend that she's this straight forward with him. His scene with Gregson was probably my favourite in that episode, just because I didn't expect it at all. They are really making sure that all of their characters get their moments, so refreshing to watch.

I am enjoying the show so far, although I admit I found Holmes to be a tad to hyper in the first episode.

IA Holmes was a bit all over the place in the first one, but I think they have done a nice job flashing out his character since then.
