Government Shutdown 2014: Arts & Crafts Week!
Welcome to Arts & Crafts Week, hosted by yours truly, angelica_rules, and ryeloza! (Featuring dueling banners by angelica_rules and whimsical_irony!)
Now, the obvious thing to do here would be to say something like, "This is the week to share whatever fandom-inspired crafts you're working on or recently finished or might be thinking of starting!" And you totally should (more on that later this week).
But with the show's impending end, we thought we'd try something a little different...something that everyone can participate in, whether or not you have a frequent-buyer card at your local craft store.
Namely: homemade thank-you cards!
This week (and for the rest of the hiatus, really), we want to encourage you to craft a small, mail-able tribute to this show we all love so dearly. Whether you want to design something colorful and glittery from scratch or put your heart and soul into the text on a simple piece of cardstock, go for it! Just create something that we can mail to Schur and Amy and everyone else to show them how much their work has meant to us--and make it wonderfully, totally from you, based on what you've loved and gotten out of this show. In the meantime, we'll keep the reminders coming.
When you're done (if you're comfortable), post pictures so we can all enjoy your creativity and eloquence!
angelica_rules (fulltimeprocrastinator on Tumblr) has kindly volunteered to receive everyone's cards and mail them to our heroes in one giant envelope/box/shipping container, so it'll be clear what a big and close community they've helped us create. Contact her for the mailing address (and please consider tossing a couple of dollars in with your card so she doesn't have to pay for all the shipping out of pocket)!
