In which Penny cleans up...

About a month after her birthday, Sefton gives Penny the gifts that have come for her from Boll.

Sometimes our ulterior motives are honourable. )

Duuuude! Penny made out like a bandit. I love how thoughtful each gift was and how sweetly each one said something not only about Penny, but about the gift giver as well. Especially Praya. Yay Praya!

I also love that when Penny asked if the gems in her necklace were real, Sefton avoided the question entirely. Which makes me think that yes, they are. And either 1) he didn't want the arguement that could ensue spoil the moment or 2) he didn't want to scare her with that fact or 3) he didn't want her to have to keep it a secret from others if they asked.

I am so humbled by this scene, it was just so much fun, such a treat for me.

Penny is very easily distracted when Sefton chooses to avoid questions -- but in this case I think she was willing to let him avoid it, because there's no answer that would not result in some sort of altercation, and she's just as loathe to spoil the moment as he.

Heehee. Praya. I dance.

Miserable party hat monkey makes me laugh every time.

Penny's such a part of his life, one into which there are so few glimpses-- she's a bit of an enigma. She's so interwoven into his world, practically a fixure at 'home' (as she calls it) and so natural with him. It must be quite different than at the Weyr, where their partnership exists only inside his room. It makes that room seem sort of magical when they're there, when we're reading a scene like this one that takes place there.

I like the framing element of 'Thank you, Sefton' and congratulate each of you on half of its making. ;)
