I feel pretty much embarrassed to add my comments after that wealth of feedback from G'thon. But I will do so anyway. I've been staring at the scene all day on the train, with no internet connection and so no ability to post commentary. Grr.
First off, this was soooo fun to read, and so believably creepy.
I would say that if he is not 'with' Hirth, at the very least he is no longer without him...
I agree with Roa, that line is fantastic, Neiran. When I read it, my jaw was just on the floor -- such a simple, beautiful way to put it.
And Sefton, I had chills run down my spine at that simple "Our moral duty, perhaps, is to perform surgery." So creepy and detached and yet sympathetic at the same time.
I finally got a chance to read this and such a good read it was. I love to all of the medical metaphors, especially the larger one brought out, but also the smaller ones that Neiran uses within his poses which are, as usual, delightful. And the separation of G'thon and Ganathon, Sefton, is pure brilliance.
