Tessie had the SAME issue. On. Off. On. Off.

Eventually we determined it was faulty wiring.

Then the kid that I sold it to smashed her all to hell, and the light stopped flickering.

Yeah, that's pretty much par the course for her. If something seems to be going wrong in a major way, just wait a couple of days. It usually goes away.

Don't listen to Greg, that's a bad idea. What you can do is still borrow the code reader. What happens is the CEL will go off if the problem is resolved, but the car's CPU may store the code for a while. At least then you'll know what tripped it and if it's serious or not. g'luck dear MEES JOOOO

Trogdor does the same thing. Check engine light comes on for some time, then suddenly goes off. Ours is because we have 2 catalytic converters, and one is going bad but not yet. :) Luckily...

That's what happened to Thor. One of the catalytic converters went bad. First it was ON..... off ON off and then finally, the CEL just gave up on being off and was all like "HEY DUMBASS!! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!" I waited another year before finally choosing to pay attention to it.
