“I'm flesh and blood, but not human.”

1. Name: Meghan

2. Age: 18

3. Birth date: 10 Nov

4. Height: 5'6"

5. Location: currently, New York. (since August, but it will change soon - Portland, Boston, and eventually back to London)

6. Five Adjectives to Describe Yourself: O dear, such a difficult question... reserved, contemplative, obsessive, intense, and (according to my roommate) sweet

7. Interests: I am currently studying art history and illustration, but I love to read and write, am attempting to learn a list of about 20 languages, and adore hiking. I have a large history hang-up as well, enjoy verbose eloquence, the occasional stint of acting or singing, running around the city in costume with my roommate, and thinking far too much for my own good. I am obsessed with finding music to fit my mood. I like playing the piano and violin, and would like to learn the flute and guitar.

8. Personal Strengths: intelligence (i'd like to think so, anyway), adaption (to situations), a good memory

9. Personal Weaknesses: overly serious nature, obsessive tendencies, bi-polar tendencies, and the ability to procrastinate

10. Talents: um.. drawing, singing, writing...

11. General Favorites (and why)

a. Non-VC Book(s): Phantom (Susan Kay) because it's a wonderful look at the backstory to Erik from Leroux's Fantome de l'Opera. The switching perspectives tell the story better than anything straight from one point of view could accomplish. Neverwhere (Neil Gaiman) because it is a wonderfully dark fantasy, and the world is fantastic. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll), which I think is a novel requiring no explanation - a little girl falls into a strange magical world. What more could one hope for? Sherlock Holmes (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) - he's a brilliant, misanthropic Victorian detective. Enough said. And, as much as it is a cliche, Hamlet (Shakespeare) as the language enchants me more than anything else in the world.

b. Non-VC Movie(s): Legend - a childhood favourite that I am never going to let go of. A Life Less Ordinary - because it is a completely bizarre and interesting idea for a kind-of romantic comedy. Brazil - I am completely obsessed with distopian stories, and I enjoy that it does not have a happy ending. ...I'm still looking for the ultimate steam punk movie...

c. Language: either English or French. English as it is the one I happen to have the best grasp of, and French for its elegant beauty.

d. Music: I like most music. Seriously. My music library stretches from a ridiculous amount of the Beatles, to classical (I love Pachelbel's canon with a passion), to celtic (hooray for Loreena McKennitt), to punk rock (nevermind the bollocks, here's the sex pistols!), and about everything in between. I like musical soundtracks also. I've currently been listening a lot to the Dresden Dolls.

e. Historical Period(s): Probably late Victorian times. For some reason that is a time period that fascinates me beyond belief. I have to admit, however, that I love reading about most periods of history.

f. Myth(s): oooh, what a question! let me see... there is always the Egyptian myth of how Osiris became the god of the dead. That has always intrigued me greatly, how he was tricked and murdered by his brother Set, then dismembered and spread about the globe for Isis to find. Although, Morrigan, one of the goddesses of Celtis mythology, has always intrigued me as well. She was the goddess of battle, of strife, and of fertility, and could appear as a ravishing maiden, an ancient crone, or a crow. When she offered her love to the warrior Cuchulainn, and was rejected, she caused him to fall in battle, and as he lay dying landed in crow form on his shoulder that he might know who had caused his downfall, and what power he had given up.

g. Quote(s): "Ladies and gentleman of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied. Look at this tangle of thorns" - Lolita, Nabokov
"But I have been hurt too deeply, Sam. I tried to save the Shire, and it has been saved, but not for me. It must often be so, Sam, when things are in danger. Someone must give them up, lose them, so that others may keep them." - Return of the King, Tolkien
"Only a few find the way. Some don't recognize it when they do. Some... don't ever want to" - American McGee's Alice
"There are more things on heaven and earth, Horation, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." - Hamlet, Shakespeare

12. How many books of the Vampire Chronicles have you read? Interview, Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Body Thief, Memnoch, Blood and Gold, Armand, Blood Canticle

13. Which book was your favorite? Least favorite? Why? My favourite was either Interview (as it was my introduction to the world of these vampires, and radically changed everything) or The Queen of the Damned (for the sheer scope and adventure and drama of it. everything suddenly comes into perspective, whether for good or ill, and it is an amazing insight into many characters). My least favourite... The Vampire Armand. I'm just not a big fan.

14. Would you like to become a vampire? Why or why not? Ah, the eternal question of someone who reads these books! It's a hard question to answer, really. One cannot deny the appeal and fascination that the vampires hold for me. At the same time, there is an equal uncertainty and revulsion... I really don't know, but am worried that somewhere deep inside, the answer is 'yes'.

15. If you did become a vampire and could live wherever you would like, where would you live? Maybe London - it has a wonderful charm that I can't ignore, and I love the city like no other. Or, further north, to York, which is a wonderfully old city. Although, Paris or New Orleans (pre-flood) would probably be intriguing. Although, knowing myself... I would end up in some secluded spot by the ocean in northern Scotland, haha.

16. Would you mind receiving a cross-gendered stamp? not at all - gender is relative

17. Anything else? not really. I seem to have rambled on a fair amount in my above entries, which is, I must say, a bit unlike me.

18. At least two pictures of yourself.
