The VP Debate - a Study in Blatant Fraud

Let me preface this rant with a few facts.  My mother is a staunch Democrat.  I am a registered Republican.  I've been a Republican since I was 18.  I am a child of the 80s and 90s, I grew up in the South.  Many would say I'm more like a RINO than a real Republican - I'm an atheist, I believe in a woman's right to choose, and I think that gay people are pretty awesome  - and as a party outsider, I refuse to turn a blind eye to the past sins of my party in the hopes that we can get a Republican, any Republican, elected to the White House.  I do not tow the party line.  That said, let me say this.

Sarah Palin you are a fraud.

I have never seen someone coached so well that even when their opponent's voice cracked over the emotion evoked from talking about wondering if their child was going to live, they launched right into the pre-packeged speech they had read over a thousand times without so much as blinking, muttering about how you're both mavericks.

"I may not answer the questions the way that either you or the moderator wanna hear, but I'm gonna talk straight to the American people."

Warning that you probably won't be answering the questions as put to you doesn't mean that you can just recite rhetoric and non-answers while saying "Gosh!" and "Betcha!"  every ten minutes in an attempt to sound folksy, like you're right on par with middle America.  And what was with the winking?

You have wasted tax payer dollars in personal vendettas.  You made rape victims pay for the collection of evidence, and then tried to pretend it never happened by just not talking about it.  You don't know Supreme Court cases beyond Roe vs Wade, and the excuse on that?  Oh, you weren't coached enough.

Seriously, you can't name Miranda vs Arizona?  You can't name Dred Scott vs SandfordBrown vs The Board of Education of Topeka?  Fuck you.

You tried to tie a species finally recovering from endangerment to liberals opposing drilling in Alaska.

Sarah Palin, you are a phony.

It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

Yes.  Reagan did say that.  How you managed to get the quote wrong, I will never know - though I suspect it was more of your desperately trying to connect to "regular folks".  And he would have been HORRIFIED to hear you mangle it.

You're a phony, and all the harking back to Ronald Reagan in an attempt to sway Reagan Democrats and old school Republicans you did does not make you affliated with him, nor does it make you an actual believer in freedom or democracy, nor does it mean that you are with the middle class American, who might fondly remember the 80s as a time of prosperity.

Reagan's economy policies did not benefit the lower to middle class.  His policies caused stock market crashes, and a savings and loan crisis that cost the taxpayers billions - does this sound familiar?  You cannot say that you are going to cut taxes and reduce government spending and control Wall Street to help us through these times!  IT DOESN'T WORK.  REAGAN SHOWED THAT IT DOESN'T WORK.  THAT WAS HIS GODDAMN POLICY.

Sarah Palin, you're a liar.

You claim to be pro women's rights, while opposing abortion even in the cases of incest or rape.

You oppose same sex rights, and then try to say in the debates that you are open minded in regards to the gay population.

Any time you didn't understand how to answer a question, or how to actually respond to a point that Biden brought up, you simply spouted off whatever had been battered into your head.  That you even for a moment tried to say that Kissinger was behind you - bullocks!!  Kissinger wants talk - he always wants talk!

Diplomacy is not as you would describe it - talking to a potential enemy while you build sanctions against them and prepare, with the help of your allies, to fight them.  It is negotiation.  That involves talking.  Not shaking with your left hand and holding a gun with your right.

You're an idiot, a liar, and you don't know jack shit about how to run a country beyond what your handlers can cram down your throat when they've seen the questions you're to be asked beforehand.

The right to vote for anyone they choose is an important right that all citizens of America have.  No one should pressure you to go one way or another.  But after watching these two debates - between both the presidential and vice presidential nominees - anyone  somehow still "undecided" simply cannot remain so.
