You know, I oftentimes find myself very facinated by cultures that have such body modifications? The extending rings put around the neck in many African tribes. It's amazing the lengths of some I have seen. Then I consider what those people would be like if you ever took those rings off.

Yanno, I heard those necky-pushy coils they load on don't so much make their necks longer so much as they shove their collarbones down! So many health problems..

I'll have to mention it to my anthropology teacher and see what she says. But I think you might be right. I just remember reading somewhere that if this one woman ever took off the ones she had, she'd basically break her neck because there'd be no support for it. The rings had become her support over the years she'd had them.

Sort of makes you twitch just thinking about it.
