It snowed in Coral Gables on Saturday afternoon.

I repeat: It snowed in Coral Gables on Saturday afternoon.

Okay, so it was just a few stray snowflakes, but still...

For those of you who aren't familiar with the area, this time of year temperatures should be around 60F. That would be 16C for those of you that use the centigrade scale (which I prefer, but when in Rome...).

This morning when I got ( Read more... )

Digital controls are FAIL! It took us a whole day to figure out our heat was actually broken because it just looked like the digital controls had reset themselves. But can't you get your landlord to have the thing checked for safety?

You're a smart cookie -- I never would've thought of the water bottle thing. May have to give that a try tonight.

Oh, trust me, your feet will love you for it ^,^

I could, and probably should, but the truth is the whole place needs work. Starting with replacing the windows, which probably won't happen. Besides, the A/C unit is only about a year and a half old, so I don't want him accusing me of fucking it up just yet.

Third (but maybe most importantly) I can't afford much more of an increase in the power bill. We're living on what I make until Chris finds a job.

Ah, yeah. That is the upside to freezing - the savings on the power bill.

Electric Blanket and long underwear time. Not romantic enough?? Wear the long-underwear when you are alone.

Oh, I wish I could afford to buy an electric blanket, but we're living on my income. Chris has had no luck finding a job so far...

The sweatpants and sweatshirts are pretty much a given, but we end up taking them off once it's warm enough under the covers.

Too bad you can't ship soda. I'd mail you some 3 liter bottles.

I'll keep a lookout for an electric blanket for you guys. I found a couple last time I was at the thrift store but they didn't have an outlet available for me to try them out first.

Awww <3 thank you!

Say, since your Internets is teh sucks, is there any way I can call you? Apparently MiL's new phone plan has more minutes than she can burn, and it doesn't cost anything for her or Chris to call me (I'm under the mobile-to-mobile category). Still costs me to receive, though, the girl who was going to sell me her phone backed out of it.

Meh, I'll have to save for a new phone, then. Probably on Virgin Mobile, since their prepaid plan seems the best for my needs.

Yeah... at least I've been lucky enough to not have a comatose iguana fall on my head as I walk to the trolley stop!
