I think it's awesome that you are so knowledgeable about American politics! I saw that Palin interview tonight. Charlie also asked her how many countries she has travelled to since international relations is such an important part of being the President, and she was like "Canada...and Mexico..." Oh dear.
I feel that since the U.S. is pretty much the last remaining 'superpower' and U.S. politics tend to affect the entire world (Iraq, anyone?) it is important to keep up with what's going on a bit. I do the same with politics in my own country and e.g. in Australia where I spent half a year (even though they don't affect my country/the world as much, but it just interests me to know what's going on). Not just in politics, really, but in social, cultural, economic issues in general.
I just think that, regardless of whether you are for or against McCain, the thought that (because he's not the youngest anymore) Sarah Palin has a realistic chance of becoming President is scary. Seriously. Scary. If I were a U.S. citizen supporting McCain, I would vote for Obama or simply not vote at all just to avoid Sarah Palin becoming Vice President. :/
Ah, yes. The terrifying duo. There's a group on Facebook entitled "I have more foreign policy experience than Sarah Palin." I've been rather tempted to join, I must admit, because I'm pretty sure that by any objective measure, I do have more experience. Because "living next to Russia" does not count.
Oh okay, yeh, I guess there is a difference there; but it basically just upset me that when someone is asked a direct question relating to something they said themselves (i.e. terrorism/national security being the biggest/greatest/most important/number one challenge or issue for America, and then being asked whether their Vice Presidential candidate has any experience or brings any credentials to the table when it comes to that challenge or issue), instead of answering the question, to go around and say "Oh but the economy is also important..." and argue that they had said before that the economy was the "number one" issue facing America! Sheesh. Either answer the goddamn question (in which case he would've had to admit that his Vice President has NO experience or credentials whatsoever when it comes to national security, since she's only been Governor of the state of Alaska) or at least make up your goddamn mind about what the greatest or most important or no. 1 issue is! LOL
( ... )
That Charlie Gibson interview was one of the most embarrassing interviews I've ever seen. I also 'loved' when she went "You can see Russia from where I live." *facepalm*
