You don't owe me anything, Squall. I'm glad you are doing better. Do you have any idea what caused... that? It was quite disturbing, to be honest.

Now might be an excellent time to mention that I'm quite adept at --

[There's the unmistakable crash of a wave hitting the shore. Or, in this case, hitting an oak and teak dining room set and carrying them into a wall.]

Fallout from a curse, basically. Apparently I got my heart taken out for a little while. Don't ask me how that works, but I have it back, so it's fine now.

Anyway, under the circumstances, I'm gonna say you can consider yourself drafted. I don't really have the authority, but with fires breaking out every time somebody turns around, this place needs some more people on emergency response. I don't think we can really afford to be too picky about protocol right now.

Oh, dear. That explains more than it doesn't, strangely enough.

I'd rather assumed as much, actually. I'd be lying if I said there weren't more elegant ways of doing this, but as long as people don't mind their possessions and persons a little soggy when I'm done, I think we'll be in business.

Yeah. Shiva's not always all that picky about property damage either, but wet or a little frozen is still a step up from "on fire."

So, you're on call. For the record, Tenou Haruka is head of Special Assault and Tactics, and we're kind of shorthanded. Captain Short's in charge of Intel. Feel free to report to either one of them.

...like the field exam all over again.

I'm sorry. I didn't notice.

You and most of the rest of the City. Don't worry about it. It's my own fault if nobody could tell the difference.

I'm glad you're better.

It wasn't all that bad, anyway, aside from being pretty much useless for a couple days.

Thanks.

Careful to not overwork yourself there, Leonhart.

I got an unscheduled four-day rest. I'm fine.

Besides, I don't see you helping.

Who'd wanna help?

Yeah, it's today's curse. People get worked up, things start catching on fire. Or something like that.

There are a couple of people besides me doing emergency response, at least.

So the police force is still around. Good to know.

Yeah, we're having to rearrange our chain of command a bit, but we're still operating.
