I'm similar with watching television that way, myself. I'm finding I prefer having all the episodes of a season so I can mainline them. Most times shows work better that way instead of waiting a week (and longer) for newer episodes, and things just flow better.

I remember very well what a scary/exciting/wonderful time this is - I too know the misery of food aversions (nothing worse than going out for dinner, ordering your hitherto favourite dish, having it arrive in front of you and your stomach going "nope!" I also went off chocolate - found out I was expecting at Easter, couldn't face my Easter egg from mum (yes, she still gets me one) til July, no joke! I now have a six year old who can't abide chocolate which makes it all make sense!

I have also fallen off the fandom map due to work - changed roles within the company last August (people keep saying I got promoted, I keep referring to it as a lateral move with a slightly upward tilt!!) and am so mad busy that I can't keep up with any shows (yet am spoiling myself silly on tumblr!!)
