Got Me Lookin' So Crazy Right Now

[+] Went and saw 50 Shades of Grey last night with a bunch of girlfriends. These are the same girls that I saw the Twilight movies with- very, very good friends of mine, lovely, sweet girls, but horrible taste in books/movies (i.e., they all take it very seriously like it's a good, original, well-written story). One of them took her seventeen-year- ( Read more... )

I'm not even sure I could get past the abusive aspect of it to actually enjoy it, but I do adore Jamie Dornan! Watch The Fall if you've not seen it!

Though don't be expecting a less creepier Jamie Dornan character if you do watch The Fall!! Which you absolutely should. Because it's fabulous!

Creepy in the same way?

Well, his character in The Fall is a husband/father/trauma counsellor/serial killer so, ya know... Similar!!

He is incredibly creepy but in a way that is most definitely intended to be creepy. So the show has that in its favour. Plus, it's brilliant. There is also that!

i am also glad they totally didn't do the monologues or the tampon scene. jeeezus.
now if only sam taylor johnson and kelly marcel were still on board for the sequel, it could stand a chance of being okay. eep.

Are they definitely not? I know that EL James pitched a fit about the tampon scene and the Chinese balls not being included, but really, someone needs to rein her in.

I read they're not locked in and the sequel hasn't been announced but i feel that' s a guarantee. i'm just worried about EL James not being reined in next time. because she supposedly wants to write the screenplay. EEP

So the seventeen-year-old girl we went with is the perfect example of why this is inappropriate. She LOVED the movie, and thinks Christian is dreamy, and wished the film were closer to the book (specifically said she missed the tampon scene, I had a hard time being nice, had to remind myself she's not my kid). And she said she *hoped* EL James writes the next one.

STOP RUINING TEENAGED GIRLS, EL.

I saw something on Twitter or Tumblr that basically said the only reason 50 Shades of Grey is a "romance" is because Christian Gray is a millionaire. If he was just some random, ordinary guy, it'd be an episode of Criminal Minds.

And that is disturbingly true!

I'm not sure if I'll see it. I struggled through the books for the utter trainwreck factor, but the movie is a whole other thing. From what I've heard, people think the woman did a decent job with what she had, and the man was more or less a wash, and the creep factor is still there... so I kind of feel like I know enough and don't need to sit through that too.

For whatever reason, I *sped* through the books for the trainwreck factor (i.e., just couldn't look away, no matter how bad it got). But I wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't group consensus to do so.

Oh, I think I sped through them too (at least, for how many pages they are) because I just wanted it to be O V E R and I skipped most of the "sex" scenes after awhile because jfc, but suffered is a much more accurate description! (Lol, even more than struggled, apparently...)

Oh that is definitely all kinds of inappropriate, to take a 17 year old cousin to see this movie. It's definitely sad to see how many people don't get what's actually wrong with the book/movie when it comes to Christian Grey. So incredibly sad.

But either way I'm glad that you had a good night out with your friends though :D

I mean, she's not my kid, so who am I to say what's appropriate or not, but yeah. I felt very uncomfortable watching this sweet kid swooning over this handsome, well-dressed sociopath.

Icon...do you watch How To Get Away With Murder? I think that might be my next Netflix binge.
