The one big thing that I thought I was going to get behind this year, knowing that Sandra Oh is out, was the April/Jackson storyline and I'm confused by it. It's being written now like April/Matthew and Jackson/Stefanie are the Real Couples, and...why? Admittedly, the only spoiler I know for this season (besides the fact that Sandra is leaving at the end) is that Alex's dad appears at some point, SO... there may very well be credible information floating about that points to an April/Jackson end game. If there is then I agree with you, this is weird and confusing (but very Grey's) storytelling
( ... )
There has been zero sense in the April/Jackson story, but my gripe is...who is pushing for these two separate stories with April/Matthew and Jackson/Stefanie? For two years, Jackson and April seemed so inevitable, who go off course with this day player/newbie? And also, being treated like crap and loving the person anyway, is kind of the history of this show, and well, happens in real life too.
I'm just bummed because I don't have a couple to root for right now, other than Derek and Meredith and I'm confident that we are past any bumps in the road there.
And also, being treated like crap and loving the person anyway, is kind of the history of this show, and well, happens in real life too. Absolutely, I agree completely. Which is why I have no problem with the storyline as it currently stands. My issue WOULD HAVE BEEN (but wasn't because it didn't eventuate) with Jackson saying YES, I DON'T DESERVE ANYTHING BETTER THAN THIS, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA. And even this is only because of the great work they've done with his characterisation over the last season or so...
Basically, I have no issue with the storyline as it stands. I think it makes perfect sense.
I'm just bummed because I don't have a couple to root for right now, Ah ha. And yeah, I feel you. I mean, I don't really care for my sake because I'm not that invested anymore and shipping isn't really my game anyway. But I know how it gives you life. And I definitely know how sucky Jo/Alex is. OMG.
I also agree that Mer/Der is pretty 'fixed' these days. Which does make for a nice change!
Oh! You would know this. Remember how Jo kept making them leave places because he had banged Leah and/or Heather there? I was thinking in my head that that was where he had Bomb Sex with Izzie, am I right?
Personally, I'm so much NOT shipping them! Far too different in their values and because of her preconceptions / prejudice / biases against middle-class people, first and foremost (yet, I was already NOT shipping - and not understanding - the Mary-Matthew couple, for the very same reasons). But that is probably because my mind remains stuck on the Branson of series 1 and 2, the "I'm a socialist militant, I'm all for freeing Ireland, and I'm proud to support myself through working for a living"-Branson, not the "last two thirds of series 3"-Branson, far too mellowed, and even tamed by the family : probably far more pleasant to live and put up with, but so far less interesting for a scriptwriter!
Except Downton Abbey, I don't know any of the other fandoms you named here, sorry... Anyway, congrats on your new job!
Yeah, I'm really not convinced that Mary/Tom would ever be a real thing, and I kind of wasn't worried about all that stuff...they just twinkled together! So I'm looking forward to their scenes. :)
