I have tears in my eyes. That was beautiful and captured the relationship between these two. As much as I love all the main characters on FNL, Matty will always have a special place in my heart.

I could quote the whole thing as being my favorite...but the last two paragraphs really were just beautiful!

Matt had never had a safe place, he was the landing for his family, he was the leader for his team, he was a man for Eric’s daughter when she was just a kid.

Eric reached up a hand across Matt’s shoulders, hovering for a second and then settling down. “Easy there,” Eric said, stopping himself before he said son. “Easy there. I got you.”

I have a feeling it wasn't hard at all for Eric to start calling Matt "son" after he and Julie were married. It was probably one of the most natural things for him.
