I think you just gave me a new pairing to ship. <3

I really love how quiet this is, and I mean that in the best sense of the word. There's no drama here, no crazy ratcheted conflict, just Sam trying to figure out if it's safe to tell Mike what he's feeling. You're really, really good at creating this stripped down milieu in your writing, and it's something I haven't come across much, in this fandom - the ability to create something interesting and compelling without tying a lot of extraneous bows on it and shaking sparkles over the text.

So basically what I'm trying to say is that this put a big smile on my face.

Awwwww, you always write me such lovely things! :D

I wanted to get each of the couples together in a different way, but the first three were all basically variations on friends turning into significant others. And with that sort of pairing, there are just so many *feelings* and big drama conversations that need to be had that I wanted to do something a little more low-key in this chapter and explore more the idea of a relationship that *starts* with dating, as opposed to dating being the natural next step in it, if that makes any sense. Mike and Sam don't interact much in canon, so they became my couple for that! (I didn't even start out shipping them when I was writing them, but now I think they have a really cute dynamic together.)

Interestingly, while I had the first three chapters pretty well mapped out, I had no idea what was going to happen in the rest of the story. Then I wrote this chapter, and the rest of it sort of came into focus. Which is weird, given how innocuous this chapter is, but it should be fun to write!

I am really loving this series so far. As the above commenter pointed out, it's a really quiet and understated but totally believable progression of the different relationships, and I find myself sighing with happiness at the end of every chapter <3

Also, Sam and Mike have been my new secret OTP for a while now, which is frustrating because NO ONE EVER WRITES IT. And then there was you, and this, and cuddles while watching Firefly, and I am seriously freaking out wih joy right now (in an understated, happy-sigh way of course). So thank you, because this is amazing.

Although I am sorry about the eventual break-up of Mike/Tina. I can't wait to see where you take this!

Thank you so much! I had honestly never thought of putting Sam and Mike together, but because of how I set up this universe, they sort of had to be if I wanted either of them to be in a relationship. And it turns out that I really, really love them as a couple! They're so cute! So I actually kind of converted myself into shipping them over the course of writing this fic. :)

Oh, the break-up of Mike and Tina. I have so many plans, I can't even tell you.

YES!

I am so thrilled that you chose to pair Mike with Sam. I've been sorta shipping them for a little while now (amongst all the other Mike-centric pairings I ship) but there is hardly any fic for this pairing out there (yet!). This was absolutely lovely though.

Great job and I look forward to the next chapter!

Thank you! I heartily support Mike/anyone, but I think I've developed a soft-spot for Mike/Sam. :)
