The first instrument he learned to play was the harmonica, but I think you know this.
"In 1965, John was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award (along with fellow Beatle members) in the category of Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles for his role in the 1964 film A Hard Day's Night." I thought that was cute ^^
In the late '60's, John also purchased his own island of the coast of Ireland, and never set foot on it afterwards, lol. It's called "Dorinish". Yoko sold it after his death and donated the money to an Irish children’s charity.

Wow! I never knew that, hon'! Honestly, I feel that he showed much promise. The actress who shared that corridor scene with him even said so!
I found this out today (kind of a Beatles fact) The Beatles were supposedly supposed to do a '66 film version of LOTR: The Fellowship, and John wanted to be gollum!! lmao, I'd have loved that.
John bought aunt Mimi a bungalow in Poole england on the ocean...Mimi said John used to visit for a few days at a time and she would watch out the window as John would be down on the sand turning cartwheels...just like a little boy...all by himself.... I find that so enduring...lol
John Lennon had a special affection for cats. When John was a child growing up in Liverpool, there were at least three cats in his life. Tich, the marmalade-colored half-Persian. Tim, the half-Persian [ginger cat]a stray found in the snowy street by John and became a special favorite. Sam was another cat he loved. As a young boy, John doted on the cats. Every day, he would cycle to Mr. Smith the fishmonger in Woolton village to buy pieces of hake for his pets. Later, as a Beatle on tour, he would phone Mimi to ask how the cats were getting on without him.
