Summary: This is based on a prompt from reannablue over on ff.net: I wonder if you could write an AU where Sam and Dean do talk regularly when Sam is at Stanford. Sam is under stress to make deadlines/expenses and somehow Dean and John come through for him.

. . .and getting a drunk Sam off the floor is definitely a two-man job. *grin*

At first John did seem OOC but, when you had Dean wondering how his dad knew about depression, it implies there's a backstory for John in this AU that explains why he's different. If you ever revisit this storyline, I'd be just as interested in finding out more about John's past as I am in Sam's depression.

I figured that John might be a little different since he was supportive of Sam going to Stanford, very much unlike he was in the show. And I'm glad you picked up on what Dean was thinking about how his dad knew all about depression.
