I've read a bit of yours, compared to my everyday attitude and felt what a thoughtless citizen I am!
I would throw away garbage in a correct way - but I have one trash dump near the house for all the kinds of material. And noone cares.
Another observation - there are poor countries, or certain social classes in the well-doing where people are preoccupied with their own everyday survival to think about trash they produce, or healthy food... May a poor half starving creature afford to be eco-friendly, I wonder?

That's the thing - poor countries are making better environmental choices because it is actually cheaper. For instance, population in a poor country typically:
-- takes public transportation (or rides bikes/walks) instead of driving in a car
-- uses anything (clothes, furniture, etc) - longer and repairs instead of trashing and replacing with a newer alternative
-- buys less (the less the buy, the less you throw away)! As a result, Costa Rica is #5 on the environmental scale index, Colombia - #9, and USA - #39. : ((
