Hadn't done one of these in five years. I stayed up all night conceiving, starting, and finishing it. A nice way to vent emotional frustration... though the circumstances leading me to this piece of work were child's play compared to the first one I did. That one was an intense creative excursion. I always start by selecting pages from magazines and figuring out what kind of textures I want to include. Then I collage the base level, and on top of that usually goes a thin layer of spray paint, then i map out the scenery and use tape to bring out those textures and then I collage more and spray paint more and pull back some of the paper i had previously glued to make other formations. In the last one I used white out, here i used bright chalk pastels.
