Boston Terriers mrbaggins1 September 17 2010, 10:05:33 UTC
I'm actually thinking of getting a Boston Terrier some time next year. Since Baggins is gone the house is so quiet and empty. He passed on three months ago and it doesn't feel right yet to get another dog - and it will never be a question of replacement. I read a lovely quote yesterday on a BX thread.

"Until one has loved an animal a part of ones soul remains unawakened" - Anatole France.

I like that. Have a great weekend.

I have a work colleague who recently had to put one of their dogs to sleep due to a chronic illness that was causing it a lot of discomfort. She was devestated. They still had another dog, and initially had no intentions of getting a new one as it was just too painful. However, a week later her partner came home with a puppy, and she says getting little "Lily Piddle" really helped them all work through the grieving process.

I dont know if this would be the same for yourself, but a Boston Terrier pup would be fun, dont you think? ;) And it wouldnt be a replacement: You're not replacing the memory of Baggins by getting another pet, you're just creating new memories to stand alongside the old ones. And think how happy a dog would be to have you as its owner!

I love the quote, btw: It is the perfect truth! Thank you for sharing. :)
