Well, you certainly did! I know what it feels like to get that first story, paragraph, hell, even a coherent first sentence onto paper after you've almost given up hope, and then realize that the writing's not ready to give up on you. It's always there, waiting for you to get out of your own way.
Now, about the story: I know nothing about the source material, so I can only comment as a lover of dark fiction. Whoa! There's some nice imagery going on here, especially the quick cuts to how she was tortured, then back to present time. Also, I like the almost-no-justification-needed explanation for why she's formed this attachment to her brother. Trauma is its excuse and doesn't look for forgiveness, at least in the stories I like. ;-)
There's enough information in this fic that I can figure out what happened in the movies(s? - is the more recent one a remake of the original?) and see that the tone was set before your story is told, but it's your story that catches my imagination.
