I don't really have anything much to say except thank you muchly to all the lovely people who wished me a happy birthday yesterday. It brightened what was a very chilly, wintery day (come on, weather; it's almost Spring).

And thank you to the lovely craterdweller for the birthday present. *points to icon ( Read more... )

holiday, birthday, blahblah

Happy Belated Birthday.

Hope you have a wonderful time in Australia. Will you be going to see that fabulous opera house?

Thanks! We'll definitely go and have a look at the opera house. If we get a chance, we'd like to catch a performance there as well.

Happy belated birthday from me, too! I wish you a good next year and of course, a holiday trip with all the right kinds of adventures. Sydney! Will you be seeing a performance at the opera house?

Thank you! The opera house is on our must-see list. We're hoping to catch a performance there if we can. *excited* Now I just need to make sure this ridiculous snow storm disappears before we're due to leave.

Oooooooooo holiday - oh do have fun.

*hangs head in shame* happy belated birthday *huggles*

Yes, it is snowing in Upper Hutt :O a friend lives down there told me yesterday. It feels extremely wintery up here - I can feel the snow in the air. Although if it snows up here it will be a first. Maybe on the surrounding hills we might get some.

Thanks! We've had snow on the ground since Sunday morning and it's acting like a fridge around our house. Brrr. The road outside looks clear at the moment and we're mostly getting rain and hail rather than snow, so hopefully things are improving at my end of the country. I'm still not looking forward to getting up early and trying to drive on what will probably be very icy roads.

I don't envy you the icy roads at all. It has as you've no doubt heard a first up here - we had a few flurries of snow yesterday - no way near what you're getting of course.

Although thick frost at the moment, so the roads are icy too.

Keep safe down there

We're past the worst of it now. Today we just had rain, although it was freeeezing. The snow has all but gone. Canterbury got it far worse than we did - and they don't really need snow on top of all their other problems.

I hope you guys don't get hit too hard as the storm moves your way. Take care.

There is an amazing pancake place in "The Rocks" area, kind of behind where the market stalls usually are. If you're doing touristy stuff, you may well stumble across it.

Have fun :D

Thanks for the advice. :-) We didn't really get a chance to explore The Rocks; just walked through a little bit of it when we were trying to get to the harbour bridge. But we did find some really great eating places. Mmmmm. There was so much more I wanted to see, but a week wasn't enough. We did see the opera house and the bridge and the tower and the zoo... all the mega touristy things. And I got a cool gorilla hoodie at the zoo. Woot.
