I recently used recovery discs on my computer, which returned my laptop to an out-of-the-box state. When I first got this laptop, I had adjusted the brightness/contrast settings to make everything slightly more contrasted. ^ I don't even know where to begin, but my stepdad may have adjusted them... but as far as I know, they're still on their default setting.

I adjust them with my Huey, a device by Pantone (I'm a professional graphic designer).
Best is to leave your adjustments at default because others don't have the same settings as you. That way it's most likely others see what you see.

personally, as a graphics maker, i think it's best to leave it on default mode because that's the general setting that most people have it on. and how you said your old graphics looked duller, that's most likely how many people were seeing them when you originally posted.
