Holy shit your father (and crew) are amazingly compassionate people. My heart goes out to them as they dare their lives for the things they believe in.
May we all find something so passionate to inspire us in life.
Ommigosh, I didn't know he was Greenpeace! Saw this on the news last night. While i can't say that deploying inflatables in the Antartic Ocean is something I can really agree with, the Japanese response was pretty low. Water canons on them. Two inflatables had problems, one capsising, the other filling with water, altho thankfully noone was hurt.
But the footage showing one of the Japanese Whalers with a big fuck off stick shoving people off the inflatable was pretty scary.
Apparently one of the other ships is headed for Australia as they have a crew member with severe appendix problem. There's talk of not allowing them to resupply, altho I can't see the government agreeing.
By the way, your Dad's boat rocks. It was very pretty. :P
No fatalities tho chicken, so if that will help you breath a sigh of releif for him, relax.
hehe actually he's not Greenpeace. His group is called the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, a marine research/ direct action group ;) www.seashepherd.org
Greenpeace is also there, but they will mostly be taking protest tactics: banners, megaphones, etc.
Hopefully with the two groups (greenpeace, seashepherd) out there....the whales will be safe.
woah. Amazing. I think I will add another item on my list of things to do before I die of old age - participate in an antarctic marine preservation voyage.
