This will be the first of several Ask the Maker installements. This is a 'campaign' of sorts organized by icon_talk to make up for the recent decrease in the amount of tutorials and to spread some icon ♥. Be warned, this is my first tutorial ever so I might ramble a bit, if you have any questions (or suggestions on how to do this) I'll be more than happy to ( Read more... )

This is really ace. And such a hard screencap to work with, holy crap. But I loved how your colors turned out, and THANK YOU for writing up a tutorial for it. *fawns over the brilliance*

It's true, it's the thing with these colourful caps, if you get around them right you end up with amazing stuff, but if you don't find your way it ends up being a pixelated mess.

thank you so much for writing this tutorial! it's amazing to see what cap you started with and what it turned into eventually (: I'd probably have given up after the soft light layer XD

I'll save this link and probably come back many times!

I was tempted like WOAH. xD It's the one good thing about entering icontests, I was set on finishing it and so I kept trying out stuff until it worked.

Glad you found it useful!! :D

THIS IS LOVELY! I really, really am coveting the way you use your textures. They made such a difference to the cap, and it's just insanely brilliant! Also, I just wanted you to know I was a HUGE fan of the original as well. THE TEXT. I remember flailing over it the first time I saw it submitted, and have basically been flailing ever since!
So yeah. This tutorial = gold. Thank you so much for sharing it with us my dear <3

Hahaha, thanks! There's really nothing to covet, most of this just happens by accident. I always choose the cap because I wanted to take advantage of the blues and greens and ended up with a completely different colour set.

I loved that piece of text, I usually overdo it like WOAH, and that one fitted in so nicely...
