Also, to continue a reply from the_daily_pet... Freya is around 8, don't know for sure. She's had 2 knee surgeries in the past year, one for her ACL, one for meniscus repair. She has a ton of arthritis from her knee problems, and it has really caught up with her at last. She still loves to run, though!
Oh, and to make this even longer, I grew up in Hershey, so I'm familiar with your neck of the woods.
Absolutely! I'll add you as soon as I can (my work blocks adding friends, but not livejournal. weird.)
Aw, poor Freya! Did she tear her ACL? My friend's dog tore both sides (different times.) I'm kind of dreading it happening to Molly, I feel like the way she bounces around it's only a matter of time...
Oh that's so cool! Do you still live in PA? I used to live in southern Lancaster co. but now I'm up in Berks County. My dad went to Milton Hershey and STILL works for Hershey's corp. so it's always been near and dear!
Oh that's really interesting about your dad! I moved away from Hershey after high school, and have been in NYC since college. My folks still live in the Hershey area so I get back there a couple times a year.
Freya had a partial ACL tear for quite a while, and we were managing it conservatively (basically joint supplements) until it got worse and she had to have surgery last year. I think the first vet we saw years ago gave us bad advice about putting off surgery, because she built up a ton of arthritis from the injury and that can never be repaired or remediated. :( Then last fall she developed a meniscus tear in the same knee, so more surgery. I wish I had advice for you about how to avoid it! Honestly, I think keeping Molly active is the best thing for her, not that she'll give you a choice about it, right?
I really love your dog photos and I live with a corgi, a cat and a boxer mix so I figure thats pretty close to the craziness that must go on under your roof! :D
