if its "drugs" i'm wondering why, unless there is new competition among drug peddlers for territory. There was so much violence when crack came along because the big guys were chopping up territory and that usually isn't a very pretty situation.

As for Orlando, poverty rates are high...way high.

Well, it's convenient to blame drugs for violence since that helps maintain support for the Drug War. i'm not saying that drugs weren't a factor in at least some of these murders, but it's an oversimplification to just blame drugs as though there couldn't have been other contributing factors.

Yeah, poverty rates are high because there are too many low-wage service/tourist-industry jobs and Orlando's growth and increased prosperity haven't benefited all groups in our community equally.
