Author’s Notes: Title taken from hat I misheard as a lyric to “Hum Hallelujah”, by Fall Out Boy. Written as kind of stream-of-consciousness stuff while I was waiting in the library for a group project, so forgive the rambling nature.

Apart from the attack on Shirley's looks (of course she's utterly gorgeous!) I really enjoyed this. I don't really read fanfic but if it's this pairing...

Oh my. Everything about that was just so beautiful and so depressing. Each of the events were described so tragically and poetically, and that last line about salt literally made me catch my breath -- the parallel you drew there was really powerful.

And many of the things you wrote about Lelouch wondering what it was all for were things that I often asked myself during the series (that's part of the reason why I'm not as fangirly over as a lot of people are -- he was too concerned with his own goals to think about the harm he was causing other people until it was too late.

Lastly, the recurring lines about growing up you wove through it were very appropriate and helped drive home the overall mood and message of the story. It was really, truly beautiful.
