Am not a gamer. Am not. Not in denial about it either.

Friday
Had planned on going to Metronome since I was in town, but between exhausting day and sinus meds, just crashed instead. (Sorry!)

martinhesselius and Shadrone were both in town, so we rented 2 DVDs of Excel Saga this weekend. Watched the first one sober - obviously a dire mistake, as the anime makes no sense whatsoever. Shadrone and I watched the second one later ( Read more... )

*nods in agreement*

And, oh, look! How pretty. The Volvo with the automatic transmission has a tachometer. So I can watch the needle bounce back and forth in case I get bored while driving.

Supremely decorative.

(Truck-boi has no tach. MUSTANG has no tach. I think I know of more automatic vehicles with tachs than manuals. Auto Manufacturers laughing all the way to the bank.)

Excel Saga is great stuff.

After we watched it, everyone took to saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooo!" (ala Pedro) to pretty much anything and everything for the rest of the weekend.

Heh heh.

I still think it's a mistake to watch it while sober.

Watched the Two Towers again Sunday... At one point Gandalf is talking over deep-space imagery.. and I kept waiting for the arms to appear. ; )

pu-chuuu!

Having converted my friend dunia who wasn't at all a console gamer (although she did a little LARP), I know how hard it is to come back once you've gone over the edge. But I'm guessing you're being a little disingenuous about your gamer-lite past. I mean, you're referencing Wolfenstein when talking about BloodRayne and you've obviously played the original Zelda in the past - the nostalgia factor's pretty much the only way gamers these days pick it up.

Let me know if your interest in Legaia keeps up. I've been tempted to pick it up and would love to get perspective from someone who's actually played it. My time's been spent on my GameCube lately, shooting up my brother and sister in Timesplitters and enjoying Metroid Prime - that's another game whose original back on the first Nintendo is a classic that I don't mind going back to. And there's a new Zelda coming next year. W00t for nostalgia value!

Best of luck with the lack of a CD player. What, no old Winger tapes to stuff in there? ;-)

*searches around*
Aha! I *do* have a tape!
Unfortunately, it's the turkish ballad from the last bellydancing seminar I went to. Somehow, driving down the interstate doesn't seem like the best time to practice a routine. ; P
(Because, of course, then I would need to be eating lunch, applying makeup and talking on the cell phone as well.)

I do like video games, but have never owned any real quantity of them. Wolfenstein and Zelda are some of the few I've ever fully completed. (Despite having seen Tomb Raider, I've never actually played it.)

Hmm.. though I did get pretty addicted to my roommate's SSX...eep!

You know, if I ever end up visiting you and Martin down in that area, I want to make that happen. The truck doesn't even have to be moving - you can leave it in park. :)

Mmmm. SSX. It's a "gateway" game. First one's free, don'tchaknow!
