Back to the Future!

At 21, I'm completely starting over my college carreer.
not that I've gotten that far to begin with).

I'm going to Howard Community College in the fall;
just starting over.

I'm mostly excited, a good deal overwhelmed and totally afraid of failure.

So here's the deal.
I have to write this out, mostly for myself.
To make my goals real.
IN INK.

Sometimes I feel like college is forced upon us wayyyy too early in life. I had no idea what I wanted to do when I was 18, and I only faintly know what I want to do now, at 21.

I'm glad I didn't transfer right away to a four year university cause I would've cost my parents a fortune. I already wasted like 4 semesters in community college (a different one than I will be attending in the fall) constantly dropping out, skipping classes, failing out, and switching majors.

But yeah, it's tough making such life changing decisions like what you're going to do with the rest of your life!

Best of luck doing all of that!!! It's not easy going back to school but if its something you really want to do and you can stay motivated your definitely going to do well.. unless your me and you skip all your classes and don't do most of the work until the last minute haha. I'm sure your going to be fine though!!! Good luck choosing!! It's going to be pretty hard but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Yeah, my biggest problem before was staying motivated, especially because I had no idea what I was going for or where I would end up.

Now I have a much clearer (even if still incomplete) sense of self and where I want to be and who I want to be. :) I don't plan on skipping classes (too often)! cause that was my biggest problem my first couple semesters, but I can guarantee I'll still procrastinate. It's just in my nature :p

Thank you for the encouragement :)

Graphic design sounds awesome. So, is your goal to be a graphic designer in and of itself? Or are you planning on working more with the public? My first thought would be to go with the Web Design, but then again, I can see why other areas of communication could be helpful.
Good luck!!

See, this is where I'm kind of stuck. Web/Graphic Design sound awesome, since I already know a lot and just have a knack for it, but I feel like I might be happier with a career in communications, maybe advertising, PR, something where I won't just be sitting in front of a computer alllll day. I feel like I could manage to work as a free-lance web design/graphic designer if I take the time to teach myself how to use different programs and languages, all that jazz. :) I'll probably talk to an adviser at the college who can help me sort things out. :)

Thanks!

Oh, that's awesome. Do you enjoy it a lot? Not to be intrusive, but is the pay nice?

I have an interview coming up for an internship where I'll do a lot of photo retouching/editing for a yearbook photography company. :) pretty cool gig.

but yeah, I'll figure it out!
Thanks babe!

Graphic Design was my first major in college :) I wanted to do illustrations for children's books and stuff like that.
But, I changed my major my junior year to Interior Design lol.

That's cute, there are sooo many things you can do with graphic design. I wish I could be an interior designer but I just *know* what looks good when it comes to that stuff, I could never put a room together the way some people can. Are you still in school for it?
