I know!! She's old!! She must be so sad...she doesn't know what to do with herself if she's not kept busy.

God, my dad is much the same way nowadays. Even on his days off now, he's all "I feel the need to putter around doing little busywork tasks for hours before I settle down to watch the Bloomberg channel!"

I know you told me probably at least 8947237243723 times, but what did your mom do, again?

Hee. Your dad's funny. Retirement is gonna drive the man batty.

Me mum inspects products for defects at sort of an automobile sticker/decal factor? They make sticky things, lmao. Which is why we always seem to have an overabundance of industrial packaging tape.

um, I'll hire your mom to just be my personal egg-roll maker. Seriously, does she put crack in those things? I don't even like egg-rolls but hers are amazing.

seriously though, that's too bad. I hope she gets a good severance package.

You and spicketrot both. Ordering eggrolls by the dozen. XD

Unemployment is gonna give a decent amount, but yeah, I'm curious about severance pay, too. She's also got her 401K.

Oh no. I'm sorry that had to happen to your mom and your family. :(
All I can hope is that she gets some really good compensation considering how long she worked at her company.
The catering business sounds good, so I hope she'll consider it.
*hugs*

Thanks. I'm thinking this isn't gonna stop her from cooking like crazy...it may even make her do it more because she'll have more free time on her hands.

She's gonna drive the entire house nuts with her busy-bodying. ;P

Oh, I'm so sorry for your mom! Where did she work, anyway? I hope she can find a replacement job soon. I think the catering job is a good idea, though. And your dad's still gone? For how long is he going to be gone for?

My mom inspects products for defects at a factory that manufactures sticky stuff for cars.

Apparently, the immediate future (the summer at least) holds cultivating a gigantic garden. We have a pretty nicely sized yard (as you saw last year) and she wants to do a lot with it. She and my sis already went to some plant sales to find deals.

Yep. Dad's still gone. Haven't seen him since he took off over a year ago. He may be gone indefinitely since the project he took on is kind of indefinite. He's cultivating sustainable food for the people in his weird grassroots political activist ways - has like 400 banana trees and like 600 other fruits and veggies. I think the point is to teach the people to farm smartly and give the food back, but I have no idea how long that would take.
