2013: A Writing Meme

Jan 04, 2014 17:03

It's the meme sensation that's sweeping the nation... sort of. Feedback is always welcome on my 2013 Leigh!words -- it was a slow year for my fic writing. The majority of things I wrote were for hp_humpdrabbles, which I tend to feel obligated to do because I'm a mod, and who else will write there if I don't?

For comparison, you can see my previous years -- 2010, ( Read more... )

Can I just say again how much I loved The Ink Under My Skin? :D I just posted a rec for it, which I'd honestly planned to do much sooner (rl sucks). And it's not just a courtesy rec because it was my prompt. It's because it was a great fic, one of those well-told stories with characters that sneak into your heart and stick. I know that feeling of writing something you know is good and having it be largely ignored, and I know that it royally sucks no matter how much one shrugs it off (because hey, what else can one do?). It's the rarepair writer's lot, lately, I find. But I'm glad that you feel proud of this story. You should be! ♥

Also, wow - those are a lot of stories up there! I didn't write a single fic in 2013 (though lots of rp, at least). So my very simple goal for 2014 is to do better than nothing. Fingers crossed. :P

I'm so, so glad you liked it! There were two prompts that I had my eye on, and I initially was going to claim the other one. But something about this one kept bringing me back to it, and I know better than to fight against where the muse leads! And I meant what I said up there -- I could seriously have written double what I did, there's still that much story to tell. I have VRs in my head for most of the characters (well, Katie was easy since I've been RPing her for five years), and there's still a lot left to explore if I ever choose to. :D

I think the story number looks deceiving. The majority of things I wrote were for hp_humpdrabbles, either the weekly postings or the Wishlist Event. The comm goes through cycles where it's popular, then it goes mostly ignored. And I don't want it to wither and fade away, so I'll whip up a short little drabble so there's something to post. If you take out Humps work, I only wrote 19 stories this year.
