Okay, this is SO drive-by, because work has been beyond insane and I'm probably going to be late typing this entry, but a couple things

Crazy day. Just got home, and I have to get ready for a field trip to some caves with J's class tomorrow. Dark, enclosed, cold spaces! Yippee. Pushing beyond my comfort zone: check.
Anyway, have some Hawksley Workman: We'll Make Time When you look at something ugly that you thought you hid away When it's coming back to haunt you on an unsuspecting day We're going to be the harbor where we can just tie our little boats A place to fight off all the lions that keep gnashing at our throats
And also: Safe and Sound You slept through the last small town, I'll wake you up when the next one comes around. Your eyes are closed, like you truly believe You're safe and sound with me
No looking back, no turning into salt. The city was crumbling but, baby, we're not to fault. When things got too rough, I promised you we'd leave. You're safe and sound with me.
Caving was awesome! I thought I would be completely freaked out, but it was fine. It helped that we were such a large group, it wasn't really that dark down there. I even crawled through two very small places, which I was worried about doing beforehand.
Hawksley is a cool guy. I have to be in exactly the right mood for his music, but his lyrics are tremendous. Sometimes. Sometimes they're just 'Oh, oh, oh." The rest of it is: The wipers clear the windshield of the rain My shirt sleeve dries your eyes the very same We fit together like the ignition and the key You're safe and sound, with me
You're safe and sound with me Just like you always will Just like you always will be
The glove box light shines bright enough to see You read the map like you were reading poetry And it just might take you forever to see That you're safe and sound, with me
It would make a great Jack/Renee fic, don't you think? Don'tcha?
Hi. I am a totally anonymous fic stalker who loves (LOVES) your writing. How about some Civil Wars?
Dust to Dust
It's not your eyes It's not what you say It's not your laughter that gives you away You're just lonely You've been lonely, too long
All your actin' Your thin disguise All your perfectly delivered lies They don't fool me You've been lonely, too long
[Chorus] Let me in the wall, you've built around And we can light a match and burn it down Let me hold your hand and dance 'round and 'round the flame In front of us Dust to
You've held your head up You've fought the fight You bear the scars You've done your time Listen to me You've been lonely, too long
[Chorus] Let me in the wall, you've built around And we can light a match and burn them down And let me hold your hand and dance 'round and 'round the flames In front of us Dust to dust
You're like a mirror, reflecting me Takes one to know one, so take it from me You've been lonely You've been lonely, too long We've been lonely We've been lonely, too long
And omg, I LOVE this song. I'm a huge follower of The Civil Wars (and deeply upset by the insane fight they're having; just get work it out and make lots of money, guys!). I hadn't listened to it in a bit, so this is a terrific reminder. Thanks!

I have never even heard of Hawksley Workman, but I absolutely love this part:
Your eyes are closed, like you truly believe
You're safe and sound with me
It reminds me of Mulder and Scully in the car in "The Truth," because I am a giant ball of cheese like that!
