I was itching for a dynamic piece, and to try out a new technique I'm trying to get comfortable with. At work everything I do has to be photoreal, so my perpetual problem with personal artwork is getting away from that. I don't even want my art to be photoreal, but I tend to have the kneejerk reaction of "it's crap!" even before I get done. It's a bad habit. Hehe.

I have a reflexive admiration for people who tackle 3D (and are good at it, no less!). I had given Z-brush a very fleeting try, but I was soon daunted and abandoned it.
'Painterly' is a word I don't like and a style I love. *laughs* I'll be glad to share any tips with you. When I finish this turian, I'll also post the steps and some info on the technique used. Although perhaps he qualifies more as 'sletchy' than 'painterly'... at this point, at least.
