First of all, HOW AWESOME that you went there & got to see all this awesome stuff & thank you so much for sharing the photos! I've been scrolling thru periodically all morning long.
It makes me sad that some are so fragile they can no longer be displayed :(
Randomly, bodices are so confusing to me for some reason. I mean, I get it's just like a blouse/skirt thing but how exactly do they work? They're not long enough to tuck in...did they button or tie to the skirts or did they have to deal with keeping their bodice pulled down as well as wielding those giant skirts???
I love love love Lou Hoover's silk crepe. It's so chic! Edith Wilson's is also gorgeous...it reminds me of dresses from the movie Titanic. Also flailing over Grace Coolidge's blue satin flapper dress. TO DIE FOR. Caroline Harrison's is also absolutely lovely. That skirt overlay is stunning ( ... )

As soon as my cousin said she lived near DC and we could visit I was like, "FIRST LADY STUFF". Plus, the museum is free!
I have no idea how bodices work, lol. I assume there was stuff under it that kept it all together?
The interactive exhibit is amazing, I was blown away by it. It's the nest best thing to actually being there. And there will be more pictures soon!

It depends on what you mean by 'supposed'; for fashion, yes. For health, definitely not.
