Ha, I was literally JUST ABOUT to post that to somewhere myself. It sums up all of my fandoms in a nutshell, I swear to god.
(I also like her note about the US having monopolise WWII movies so much that she gets weirded out by stuff with Canadians - can't say I've had the same problem, because we Brits have our own line in wartime nostalgia. We might not have been hunky, but dammit, we had pluck! And amazing moustaches.)
IGNORE HOW TERRIBLY LATE THIS COMMENT IS RL is just ugh
Aww, I still think it should be posted to itswar or at least camp_toccoa because it is so relevant but lol I didn't want to spam...
Ahahaha, yeah the US does love WWII, and hey, it's like you guys pointed out, WE IMPORT OUR HUNKS. Lol all I could think about was how DAMIAN LEWIS was a BRIT. And you know Burgy Burgin Martin Mccann was Irish.
US = LOVE OUR WWII MOVIES, AND OUR HUNKS. WE PRETEND WE WON THE WAR AND WILL IMPORT PRETTY GUYS FOR OUR WAR MOVIES.
And yet, a good 65% of those "American Hunks" are played by non-American actors. Yes, Band of Brothers, I'm looking at you. But seriously, where's the hbo mini-series on all the "holy shit, yo, that's amazing" stuff pulled off by Soviet Russia?

Hee, I was just thinking that!
The Pacific is actually just as bad - there's Australians (Josh Helman, Leon Ford), Irishmen (Martin McCann), Canadians (Brendan Fletcher and I think possibly Scott Gibson)... in a way, I find it strangely reassuring that the Yanks have to outsource their hunkiness to Britain and the Commonwealth.
The Pacific is just as bad, but Band of Brothers always cracked me up by the sheer numbers. And I get its a location/local populace thing and since the alternative is, like, Pearl Harbor I'm not going to complain.
I'd LOVE to see something on the Night Witches. I'd be all over that in a heartbeat.
Oh no it's cool, I totally understand I've got stuff goin on here so I'll have to send it like idk, hopefully sometime next week. Don't worry about it, RL > everything else.

Particularly the Night Witches. I mean, just the name alone sounds awesome.
