I came across this cool panorama photo of the Terracotta Army. If you don't know what that is, and you should, read the wiki article which states 700,000 people worked on the project. Gives a clue how China has had a staggering population for a very long time if it had almost three quarters of a million people at it's disposition for a particular ( Read more... )

I just found about the garlic thing too a few days ago! We get ours from b.c. now instead to cut on product transport emissions - although I guess china isn't that much further away?

I saw a C4 show about it, fascinating, all that effort going into stuff that long ago, a lot of the ancient civilisations eg the Egyptians etc, made a lot of the same sort of effort

I find ancient history very interesting and fascinating. And it is said what has been uncovered of the army may be only an 1/8 of what's there!
