Your mom should see a doctor as soon as possible: cat bites can be very dangerous and it sounds like she's already reacting to it. She can easily get blood poisoning from the wound--I can't stress enough how important it is that she gets treated for this.

I ddon't mean to sound alarmist, but I've had experience with this sort of thing (unfortunately!)

Moe looks a lot like my kitty, Angus. Very beautiful markings! (I am extremely partial to that look).

I hope your mom's arm heals quickly too. I agree with gairid about her seeing a doctor. It sounds kind of serious. Not to scare you. It doesn't sound life-threateningly serious, just serious enough to warrant medical attention in order to avoid a lengthy and painful infection and healing time. Like maybe a tetanus shot or whatever they do for that sort of thing. And a good course of antibiotics too:)

Good luck!

Not to alarm you, but your mum should see a doctor as soon as possible - animal bites are very bad in that they're chock full of bacteria and infections set in easily. My roommate startled my cat once and he bit her hand - right down to the bone and pierced the tendon. Her hand swelled like a balloon and she ended up spending 5 days in hospital on IV antibiotics before the doctors would even think of discharging her. I'm sure your mum'll be fine but she needs to get on some antibiotics ASAP.

Oh, that last picture is precious.

One of our cats bit my mom like that once and it took her quite a while to heal. I hope your mom's okay!
