I'd stick to your guns on it. I watched a documentary on this not so long ago and they do INDEED get commission if they sell a certain type of phone. the provider gets incentives from the manufacturers of the newer brands to push as a hard sell on their products. DO NOT let them force you into a blackberry when you have no need for one. Tell them you'll move to another provider if they are not willing to give you the service you actually need instead of what they want to sell.

I'm always having to fight off the guys trying to sell me a contract phone when I'm perfectly happy with the Pay as you Go arrangement I have already. They keep trying to reel me in with "but you get 500 free minutes and 500 free text messages for just £35 a month.".......oh, right now I thought I was getting by putting £20 on my phone a month, which covers all my calls and texts...and when the hell would a person really need to have 500 free minutes and 500 free texts? if I need to speak with someone enough to send 500 texts, I'll pick up a phone and call them

Don't worry, I won't. I don't need it and I don't want it. If I had a busier life or ran my own business, then yes it would be handy, but other than that I don't need one.
