Morning; fine with both prose & action. not_just_a_goof October 21 2011, 05:59:21 UTC
Max had gone to sleep in the cramped front seat of his dad's old car with a Bigfoot on the roof and the knowledge that he had just changed the map somewhat heavy on his mind. But what else could he have done. His dad wouldn't listen to reason and there was the concert and Roxanne and--

--and then he wakes up, in the dew-damp grass, with an odd pink creature licking his face.

"Yech, what--" he rolls away, shoving a hand against the pink thing's face. All that nets him though is another wet, drooly lick, this time to the palm of his hand. And beyond the weird creature there is nothing Max recognizes: no Bigfoot, no lake, no car, no dad.

"What the h-"

"Pooooke." The creature nuzzles affectionately at Max's hand, not even bothered when Max pulls it away ( ... )

Madoka had been here since about dawn; it doesn't seem like many people are about, so she's wandering in search of someone to tell her what this is, calling to no one in particular: "Hello? Hello? Is anyone there?" All the meanwhile being quietly trailed by a small, white and black-furred creature.

Ah, there's someone--she sees the back of his head, and he seems to have a companion of his own. "Um... excuse me?"

Oh! Someone there!

Max quickly turns on his heel, opening his mouth to speak, and-- Woah, what had happened to her face? It was kinda flat and-- No, Max. Behave. It ain't nice to ask people what was wrong with their face. What would your dad say.

Besides, this poor girl looks about as lost as he feels. Now is not the time to focus on things like that.

Realizing that he has been staring at her, he glances away for a moment, rubbing his arm.

"Woah, sorry about that. You kinda surprised be there."

"Ah--" Madoka does a double-take as well--he looks like a character from one of Tatsuya's cartoons, a little bit.

But it would be impolite to stare. Maybe that's just what people look like, here. It's a little cute, actually. "Ah, sorry!" she says, sheepishly. "I didn't mean to scare you. Um, um, you wouldn't happen to be from here, would you...?"

morning; good with either format! s0llux October 21 2011, 07:08:25 UTC
[ Sollux isn't quite certain what to think when he wakes up with his face pressed against hard earth as opposed to hard and hollow steel. A series of thoughts and realizations scrolls across the internal screen of his mind. First and foremost (and likely the most important), the simple knowledge that he isn't in the Veil anymore.

How exactly he knows that is beyond explanation, at least right then. Maybe it was the air, fresher than the unstirring, stagnant space of the meteor lab. It could have been the earth, where there had been none. Or it may have been the atmosphere, the feeling around him, like he was back on one of the session's twelve planets again as opposed to a claustrophobic little computer room. Like he was back on Skaia. Open, free, unfettered ( ... )

[He's spent the whole night wandering around, trying mostly in vain to ignore the annoying little fox practically begging for attention. Used to nights without sleep, he's not even tired come morning. Annoyed, yes, but the annoyance turns to curiosity when he doesn't hear the yipping at his feet anymore.]

Z?

[When he turns to look, the little fox has darted off in another direction towards something sitting on the ground. Karkat grumbles for just a second, bitching about the hyper little thing needed to calm the fuck down or something, until he realizes what Z was going for.

It only took his mind a second to process before he darted after the fox, mixed emotions shooting straight through the roof. He stops a few feet before the Pokémon does, the little fox thinking that anyone sitting on the ground is totally free game to jump all over and lick.]

You fuckass, what are you doing just sitting there like an idiot?

[Okay, so maybe that was a little harsh and Sollux was probably more freaked out than he had been considering the whole ( ... )

[ there were unnamed and unknown things around him and they were touching him. what youth in his right mind wouldn't be freaked out of his pan?

but at the sound of that voice, Sollux raises his head, facing toward the sound with something like hope and wariness drifting across his expression. ]

... KK?

[He lets out a huff, a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding, and rolls his eyes before plopping himself on the ground next to the other troll.]

Who the fuck else would it be?

Zorua!

[The little fox obviously didn't like being ignored, and instead decided it's best form of fun was jumping back and forth between the two laps.]

Where the fuck are some sedatives when I need them? Something to calm this little pain in the nook down.

[On the outskirts of the town there's a boy with grey skin, yellow eyes and nubby little horns sitting on the ground. While he's glaring at it like it was the one who wronged him, a little black and red fox bounces around playfully, trying to get his attention to little avail. It bites and licks and jumps on and off of him, trying for some sort of attention.]

Z, knock it the fuck off! I'm trying to think god dammit!

[His snap and harsh tone does nothing to the little fox as it goes about it's way, the trainer grumbling under his breath in the process. Just. Fucking. Great.]

[Dave wasn't intending to come across anyone he might know sinnce if they weren't Davi they didn't really matter. But lo and behold one shrimpy troll bitch... Must be Vantas he seems angry enough.

He shares a smirk with Vulpix, who is currently cozy in his arms, and approaches the troll as stealthily as possible. Holing vulpix out as she gracefully leaps out and lands on Karkat's head and then down to the ground, engaging herself in greeting her fellow fox curiously. ]

Sup not so tall or tan.

[Oh dear god why? He knows that voice. He wishes he didn't, but he does.]

Zorua!

[While Karkat's pressing his hands against his face almost hard enough that it should be painful, the little fox seems more than happy to have a friend to play with and automatically pounces it's new friend.

After a moment of gathering his rage and pushing it into a ball in the back of his mind, he glares up at the human with grey and yellow eyes.]

Strider.

[So much hate and annoyance all bundled into one word. At least Z isn't bothering him anymore. Though he's not sure if frolicking with this prick's pokemon is any better.]

[If only Karkat could see the mocking eyelash flutter Dave is making right now.]

No need to get all excited and worshiping of my presence dude. You gotta absorb all this slowly so you don't get the vapors or some shit.

[He's reaching out to poke Karkat's cheek under the eye in odd interest of the strange colorings, since he's admittidly kind of excited to finally see what these douchebags look like.]

You'll make me blush all my bright delicious cherry red from all this admiration.

[Unkowingly, he prounounces the work cherry in an eerily accurate imitation of Terezi. He spends way too much time talking to her, she rubbed off on him.

Vulpix herself gives Z a warning swat for the pounce, but eagerly participates in rolling around with the fox. Dave doesn't mind, since it's kind of cute and getting Karkat in a tizzy. Double win aw yeah.]

[Meanwhile, there's a girl leaving town. Maka's gotten all the information she needs and now her only objective--in her mind--is to find her errant partner. The Pokémon that was given to her is still following along despite her misgivings about using a cute little creature for battling. Of course all it really looks like is a candle with a dopey happy face floating alongside a girl with her nose buried in a book, obviously the thing is providing light for her but she doesn't seem too happy about it.]

You really had better not be eating my life energy right now, Soul, I'm still using that.

[Bingo! That sure looks like a girl that knows her stuff. Okay, he'll just... get over there and ask her. He needs to figure out what this place is, after all. And where he can find his dad. And what is up with that pink thing following him. But he's gotta be smooth. Gotta make a good impression. He can't just have people thinking he is a goof here too.

Right.

Smoothing himself out, he casually --Casual, Max. Like you are Powerline-- jogs up to the unfamiliar girl, raising a hand in greeting.]

Hey, Can I aaaahsk--

[Whump. Max's feet stop working half way through the jog and he trips, bititng the dust. Oh god, why does that keep happening? why?

Oh. Yeah. Right. His dad is, well, his dad.]

[WHOA--that startled her. But uh-oh, someone's in trouble, this looks like a job for a meddling fourteen year old.]

A-are you okay?

[The floating candle meanwhile is just giggling at Max's sudden makeout session with the ground.]

[He scrambles up, dusting off his knees, and totally looking cool. Like he fell down all the time. Which he does. But like he had meant it in some way, and totally, tripping was just the new cool kid thing to do and

... it is not working, is it?]

Yeah.

[His voice breaks for a moment, cause, yep, embarrassment in front of the ladies is just inevitable.]

Yeah. Perfectly fine.

[Someone was surprisingly chipper for having been transported from his home. With a spring in his step and a bag slung over his shoulder, the strange man with the tall hair was heading for the northern exit of town. He was ready to go.]

Hey, Ruff... let. Right? You comfy up there?

[A bird Pokemon was perched atop of the man's tallest (and stiffest (no really imagine the amount of gel in that mop top)) hair spike. Its red, white, and blue feathers stood out along with the man's equally as patriotic color scheme. They looked like walking American flags over here (or in Rufflet's case, a flying one). Just how the man, Goose, liked it.

Care to approach? Gush over his bird? Laugh at how wimpy it looks? Laugh at his hair? Anything goes!]

[That is a bird.

That is a bird.

This is relevant to his interests! ...Oh, and the the person it's perched on looked pretty darn weird too, but BIRDIE. Clearly more important here.]

What's that?

[Goose perks up and looks over to this... person, whoever he is. Who even is this kid? Goose sure didn't know.]

It's a Rufflet. 'Least that's what I was told. [The Rufflet places a wing over his head in a salute!]

You sent here to be a 'trainer', too, kid?

windythings October 22 2011, 03:26:39 UTC
[Hee saluting back to the Rufflet!]

Yup! Not that anyone here really seems to think it's weird. This is Drifty.

[He's gesturing the to poor balloon creature he's holding onto, which has decided to settling on staring at them for now.]
