So, I bit the bullet and bought a TiVo today. The box said EVERYTHING comes with it. So, after Daddy spent his remaining time at my house putting it together, and it SHOULD be working, we discover that we need a special wireless USB and a new connector cable. So we go and get those. Sounds like its time to unhook it and put it back in the box and take it back to the store and tell them what it's doing and that you either want a new one that works or something else that will work...or failing that your money back. I hate it when technology totally refuses to work for no good reason.

So, I called customer support again and the lady says to me "Oh. We like to give it 24 hours to hook up like it needs to". When I asked why the screen says 3 hours, she couldn't answer the question. Huh. Go figure. So at 5:30, if the damn thing doesn't work, I am going to call again. I DARE them to tell me I can't use it and have to return it. It took my dad over an hour to get this damn thing plugged in and now THIS happens? *sigh*

Technology is always more trouble than it's worth...I say that as someone who has and uses quite a lot of it. We have a dvr but it came from our satellite provider when we switched to HD. It occasionally decides it doesn't want to work for no good reason...we had to send ours back to get a replacement because it freaked out and stopped recording altogether. I hope your thing decides to cooperate but if it doesn't give 'em hell on the customer service line.
