i was thinking along the lines of cartesian coordinate system sort of like what deadvirgin mentioned

and people would be like points on it, but placement of individual people would be stupendously difficult, and it would only account for a brief moment in time because people depending on their interpretation of gender can to their understanding, change

though i think most of the population stays pretty localized in their coordinates

Like from zero to male and zero to female? That's pretty cool. It still mostly asks people to average all the aspects of gender into one score, though not as much as a line does.
