Oh man, how the HELL am I supposed to pick one?? I simply can't, I love too many animes for too many different reasons.
So here are my tops in no particular order.
Fullmetal Alchemist
Haha... I heard about this anime a long time ago and never really got into it for some reason. But when I watched the first episode of "Brotherhood" I loved the theme song so much I kept watching it (this happens to me a lot, lol.) But anyway, this is one of the most touching animes I've ever seen. And Hiromu Arakawa's attitude towards the series is amazing. If I could interview anyone, ever, it would be her.
Neon Genesis Evangelion
HOLY FUCK I LOVE THIS SERIES. Seriously. It is a 26-episode mind-fuck. There are biblical themes, psychological themes, and lots of awesome giant robot fights. Asuka is my favorite character, but no one seems to like her. What's up with that?? Anyway, if you're not into old anime (lol it's funny to see the type of technology they use; their cell phones are gigantic) there's new movies coming out. The first two should be available somewhere online, the second two are going to be here in coming years. I highly recommend them (they're just movies - they're short.)
Soul Eater
LMFAO Okay, I seriously watched this whole anime in less than two weeks. It was awesome. Every single story arc was so action-packed and unforgettable. I wish I didn't have to say this, but read the manga. It's so much better, IMO. Also, Maka is like, the most feminist, greatest manga character ever.
