The Not-Quite-Definitive 21st Century Torchwood Timeline(s)

Firstly, thank you to everyone who commented on this post; it's been a big help.

I think I've now worked out a fairly good and mostly consistent 21st Century timeline for both Seasons of Torchwood, and where they fit in with contemporaneous Doctor Who episodes. In addition to the commenters on my previous post, I've drawn heavily on this timelineRead more... )

You are simply amazing!
I LOVE Torchwood, and I really LIKE Dr Who, but I would never have the patience to do this!
What I found really surprising was that all of season 2 TW hasn't actually 'happened' yet?
LOL
That means my choosing to put my hands over my ears and sing LALALA re Tosh's and Owen's deaths is quite acceptable for the next 11 months.
I can't tell you how much that means to me!
Thank you.

Well, I had a lot few other timelines to work from, and it didn't really take all that long. And I don't know, it's just a thing with me; I like to know when things are happenning and how they fit together-- if I don't work it out, it bothers me too much. I did this so I could stop thinking about it. :P

Yeah. I think we should make June 20th official Janto Day, to celebrate their snog. :D And it's nice to think that in some fictional alternate universe Tosh and Owen are still out there.

Though now that I've thought about it some more, I think I'm changing my mind: I'm coming around to the opinion that TW 2.13 occurred in March 2008 (see updated alternative timeline in the main post).

No I am not going to go look, lol.
I am going to continue to channel my inner eight-year-old with my hands over my ears and singing LALALALALALALALA
Yesterday you gave me a virtual 11-month reprieve for Tosh and Owen, and I'm going to stick with it - I never claimed to be mature.

No problem! Do you have any thoughts on whether you prefer the first version, or the second version?

I think the second in that it makes sense to think that the ending of the series coincides with the current date.

Yeah, that's very much what I'm thinking too-- it feels a lot tighter that way, especially since I can reason my way out of the Owen discrepancy.

And it means that, if Torchwood was real (:P), at the exact moment that Jack and Ianto were snogging in TTLM, I was lining up for my Harry Potter book and conversing with a couple of random girls I met about how Remus and Sirius were so obviously gay, no matter what J. K. Rowling said. :P

Oh, nice work! And I like the second one better.
