I feel like such a bad feminist right now...

...because I'm totally shipping Buffy/Angel. I know that there are so many reasons not to, so many reasons that their story plays into a really bad patriarchal narrative about love and abuse... but I want them to be together.

I cried a little at the end of Season 2. D:

buffy the vampire slayer, feminism

Hey, you could be indulging in far less feminine positive shows than Buffy. *coughTwilightcough*

Sigh, when I got into Buffy (right at the end of S2), I was such a shipper. I loved them. Becoming II made me bawl and the Sarah McLachlan song couldn't have been more perfect for that ending.

:) I am conflicted about Buffy/Angel, because on the one hand, yeah, everything you just said with bonus "He's HOW old and still hitting on teenagers?"

At the same time, the Bad and the Weird gets acknowledged (at least, it seemed to be) so the 'ship came off to me as owning (some of) its issues, so 'shipping them is less a matter of ignoring the bad things and more about embracing the wacky, screwed-up nature of their universe in general and specifically their particular situation.

Um. Yeah.

Yeah, that's true. The bad stuff isn't exactly glossed over.
