RUSSELL T DAVIES IS A PLAGARISING PLAGARIST. (But I love him anyway.)

Actually, I've known that ever since the middle of 2007, but last night I finally convinced my boyfriend of the fact, because he finally agreed to watch "Meet John Doe", which is an episode from the incredibly crappy fourth Season of Lois and Clark, which no-one ever watched back in the 90s-- even I'd given up on the show at that point. But I ( Read more... )

Oh man, that is so very beyond funny!

There are so many RTD things which remind me of BtVS/Angel and The X-Files. Most of my friends blow them off as sci-fi tropes. But they amuse me.

See, the whole "two Clarks, parallel universe" thing I can accept is just a sci-fi trope-- the way that story arc unfolds is actually pretty different to Journey's End. (It's not like there's a human!Clark and a super!Clark, and Lois stays with her original Clark, not the second one.) But the similarities between "Meet John Doe" and "The Sound of Drums"-- right down to the "Utopia" thing-- are just way too pronounced for it to be a coincidence-- Davies was DEFINITELY inspired by the Lois and Clark episode. And to have that followed up by the two Clarks thing was just hilarious.

I don't think this is ever going to not be funny. And I believe I will be laughing about it for days.

Your last line in this post made me laugh SO MUCH. Thank you!

(Also, I do remember that L&C episode, to my surprise.)

Ha! I LOL'd IRL. I love Russell T Davies, but I'm also aware that he is crap in a multitude of ways. :P

Also, this has reminded me of how much I liked Lois and Clark (or "The New Adventures of Superman" as it was called here, for some reason). A guilty pleasure, but a pleasure nonetheless.

For some reason Rusty's crapness just makes me have more affection for him.

The show was actually called "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman" here, but I couldn't be arsed typing the whole thing out above. The first two seasons in particular were such wonderful campy cracky fun. I spent so much time waiting for each new episode, hoping for them to kiss... oh, god, I haven't changed a bit since I was fourteen, have I? :P Well, except these days I'm sure I'd be all about Clark/Jimmy.
