My theory is that the mind is a complex system that reacts randomly to its situation at first, then in ways that produce a positive reaction later on.

If you have something horrible happen to you, and you get sad about it, and people comfort you, then you are going to get sad about the next bad thing that happens so that more people will comfort you.

My theory is that insanity is, while not a 'cry for attention,' a way of the mind following its programming and searching for a positive outcome for itself.

Apologies if that sounds harsh, but I know the feeling of 'wanting' to be insane, 'wanting' to be depressed or whatever, all too well. By accepting that it's only a way for my mind to pleasure itself, and not a way for my mind to be effective, I can move on and attempt to break those patterns.

simply find a new source of emotional pleasure, one which never runs out. But yeah, i've always been fascinated by those with a 'victim mentality'. I mean, i generally don't like to rely on others for support, but for others, it seems to provide validity, like, it's ok to be sad and miserable. Except, that the drama gets a bit annoying after a while.
